MDDE Promotions

Federalsburg, MD

To our valued partners:

On behalf of the Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company (MDDE), I am pleased to announce the following management changes:

Allen “Sam” Pate, who has served as MDDE’s General Manager since 2016, has retired from his management role. Sam was first hired at MDDE in the late 1980s and worked in the operations and maintenance of way departments for a number of years before leaving to pursue a career in human resources. He returned to MDDE in 2011 and served as Chief Mechanical Officer until being elevated to the General Manager role.

Andrew Rementer has been promoted to General Manager. Andrew has served as MDDE’s Chief Mechanical Officer since 2018. Prior to joining MDDE in 2017 as a trainman, Andrew worked in operations with Norfolk Southern for 17 years. Cody Brinkley has been promoted Chief Mechanical Officer. Mr. Brinkley has been with MDDE since 2018, during which time he became certified as a conductor, engineer and track inspector.

We are grateful to Sam for his many years of excellent service, and we are fortunate that he will continue to be a valuable resource to the MDDE, working part-time within the operations department.

We are also very excited to have Andrew and Cody step up to fill the General Manager and Chief Mechanical Officer positions. Andrew is a seasoned railroad industry veteran with an excellent work ethic and strong leadership skills. I look forward to working with him in his new capacity.

Likewise, Cody has proven himself to be a very skilled and dependable railroader. Since joining MDDE three and a half years ago, he has taken it upon himself to learn about many different aspects of the railroad and we have no doubt that he will be very successful in this new role.

In other personnel news, Brandy Cathcart was recently elevated to Accounting Manager. Brandy joined the MDDE team in 2016 as a bookkeeper and I am very proud of how she has progressed. Brandy has not only become very knowledgable on the financial side of our business, she has also taken on a number of administrative responsibilities, and is a real joy to have in the office.

The Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company has proudly, and safely, served the freight needs of the Delmarva Peninsula since 1977 and we look forward to continuing on for many more years to come.
